I painted this today (24th April) - it's a portrait of my partner Mike and I with our cat Tom and dog Ziggy. It's a present for Mike's birthday tomorrow. I got him to pose for the photo I used by telling him an old friend had been in touch after many years and wanted to see a picture of us, which is sort of true LOL. Of course getting the animals to sit still was a bit of a nightmare but it all worked out in the end :)

Wow, this is such a lovely, warm and sincere family portrait. The light and shadow you've created on the faces is amazing, especially dealing with stubble. I am gobsmacked you managed to get your dog and cat to sit so still for the photo, brilliant!

This is so beautiful. ;w; You guys make a really fantastic family...

I really love your work. You're an excellent portrait artist and I really wish I had the technical ability you do. >w< You're so talented at evoking the emotions that come with certain situations, especially the more subtle and intrinsic ones. Your historical pieces are also fantastic. :) I'm currently sort of obsessed over 16th, 17th, 18th century European history, so I definitely had a nice geek out over your gallery folder. ;)

Thank you - it's a bit special now because both the dog and the cat have since passed away. I need to do a new one really as we now have a new dog, two new cats and two chickens!
